DESCRIPTION: Real baby Paua shell dangles on a delicate fine chain necklace. Uniquely New Zealand, Paua (also known as abalone) are considered taonga (treasure) to New Zealanders. Outer shell has been clay sculpted with speckles of natural Aotearoa beach sand. Clay is marine turquoise to match the colour of the ocean.
A touch of 24k gold gilded on the broken part of the shell.
Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold.
Whether it’s something you treasure yourself or a gift for someone, this delicate real baby paua jewel piece is a symbolic expression of the well known quote from Alladin…
“Do not be fooled by its commonplace appearance. Like so many things, it is not what is outside, but what is inside that counts.”
Rough on the outside and lustrous on the inside. A reminder to shine your light from the inside out.
Unlike other paua shell jewellery, we intentionally chosen sun-bleached shells with subtle lustre. Sustainably and ethically harvested from a Northland Paua Farm.
