DESCRIPTION: A pair of rock oyster shell fragments (tio reperepe in Maori) suspend on slim drop earwires. Rims have been handgilded with 23k gold. Rock Oysters are abundant in the intertidal zone in the north of the North Island. They are symbols of strength, courage and survival. They also represent resilience & the willingness for transformation. These fragmented rock oyster shells from the Bay of Islands shores have been sea tumbled, smoothing out its naturally sharp edges. Foraged from the shores of the Bay of Islands in the Far North of New Zealand. SHELL SIZE: Irregular shape approx 30-35mm long. There will be slight size, shape and colour variations due to its natural elements.
